PVA's film-forming character helps manage this by providing a controlled, consistent viscosity profile that allows the product to spread thinly and evenly without balling, pilling, or requiring excessive rubbing.

At the skin surface, PVA's flexible film contributes to a smooth, refined skin feel after application - reducing the appearance of surface texture irregularities and providing a subtle, breathable finishing layer that allows the formula's actives to remain in proximity to the skin's surface during the absorption period.

PVA also plays a role in formula stability alongside xanthan gum and the other rheology modifiers in the system.
